In the opener, the short-listed three are Beneking, H Harrison and Mulberry Lad, with the selection being Beneking. H Harrison's confidence is high following a Wolverhampton win and he can't be ruled out of going well. Greenwood is weighted to run well but has not won in 29 all-weather attempts. Beneking now races from two pounds above a winning course and distance mark and, dropping back to today's trip for the first time in five outings, looks a key player today. Fortress races from a Turf winning mark but has been disappointing in her last two runs. The Grey One needs to eke out some more improvement, we feel, in terms of winning, while Mulberry Lad looks competitively weighted on the best of his 2007 efforts and can go well. Wiltshire has been raised three pounds for a narrow course and distance win and can maybe make the frame, while Auentraum is struggling to get back to his best. Only a modest opener, then, but it can go the way of Beneking.
