Despite the fact he was turned over at 1/4 last time out, JARROW ran well considering how fast he went and looks worth siding with again ahead of Freddie's Girl and Yer Woman. Mark Johnston's colt won a maiden very impressively on his second start before jockey Greg Fairley asked him to go far too quickly in a conditions race over seven furlongs. Unsurprisingly the son of Shamardal faded late on, but he shouldn't be given up on yet especially as he's bred to come into his own now aged three. A mark of 83 appears fair enough and the yard continue in decent form, so dropping back to six furlongs and with Joe Fanning taking over in the saddle a big run is expected. This does have the makings of a competitive handicap however, with both Freddie's Girl and Yer Woman afforded respect. The last-named represents the bang in-form yard of Richard Hannon and won a course and distance handicap late last year. She then returned to the track over a furlong further at the beginning of March but had plenty go against her and had to settle for fifth, but better is expected back over a sprint trip with that run under the belt. That said, the filly might just prove to be a couple of pounds too high in the weights and a bigger threat may come in the shape of Freddie's Girl who herself is a course and distance winner. She's 7lbs higher now having gone up a shade for taking second last time, but these look her optimum conditions and a big run is likely. Private Otley has left his juvenile form well behind this year in taking two of his last three and has claims in receipt of plenty of weight, whilst Athwaab isn't too badly treated but is more exposed than most. Kylladdie has work to do with Private Otley despite the revised terms, Transfixed hides nothing from the assessor and can be opposed with confidence whilst Little Perisher disappointed last time. This is a decent little contest and one that provides Jarrow with a good chance to get back to winning ways.
