In depth

Verdict

Bomber Command is the pick to land it despite having a far more exposed profile to that of Visions Of Johanna while Russki and Irony are others that have claims. Bomber Command holds a much higher all-weather to that on the turf but that is deserved as five of his career victories have been achieved on this surface. He beat the strongly backed High Standing on his penultimate start and lost nothing in defeat in finishing third in the ladies diamond race at Ascot. Visions Of Johanna justified strong support to land a Sandown maiden last month with the third adding substance to the form by landing a maiden subsequently. How smart a maiden overall it was remains to be seen but he is open to lots of improvement. Russki has climbed the weights but is another that is most effective on artificial surfaces while Irony's best form is over seven furlongs but of late the suspicion has been that an attempt at a mile could be worth a retry. Bomber Command is selected to land it.
