Verdict

A competitive enough event for its type and HAMLOOLA, who left a very good impression when scoring at Yarmouth, gets the vote. The filly made no mistake after going off at odds of 1-2 that day, routing what was a weak field in some style. Nonetheless she is going the right way and the yard continues in good nick, fuelling confidence that she can win on her handicap debut. Avon Lady has been consistent in this sphere and tries the Polytrack for the first time. She is 5lbs higher than when winning over a mile, also at Yarmouth, and is respected. Copper Penny won a Beverley maiden over this trip but has struggled to land a blow in handicaps and in spite of the yard's superb form she may need a drop in the weights. Kingston Acacia goes well fresh so after a break she is worth a market check, while Hulcote Rose may make the frame, but the handicapper looks to have control and Hamloola gets the nod.
