    Verdict

Alshahhad is the first foal of a winner on the all-weather and Jim Crowley rides him ahead of fellow newcomer Qallaab. Cottingham never threatened at Chelmsford on his debut though still finished in front of Brilliant Riposte while Sharg drops back in trip after disappointing at Brighton. NAWAR found one too good at Salisbury on his introduction and, despite finishing well behind the winner, that still looks stronger form than Progressive Dawn’s fourth at Yarmouth so Roger Varian’s colt gets the nod.
