    Verdict

Assail and Cool Hand Jake have less to prove than most in this line-up but this test looks tailor made for SHOOTING PARTY. Richard Hannon knows what it takes to win this series and this colt has the scope to make his presence felt in the final. He returned a beaten favourite on his only previous visit to the track in a maiden won by the useful Captain Ramius but opened his account in a Windsor handicap in October. There was plenty to like about his return to action at Sandown when a couple of lengths behind Roar Of Applause but he's fancied to reverse the placings now that he's got a run under his belt. Dangers abound with last time out winners Musleh and Cut And Thrust both returning to action from lengthy breaks. The former made hard work of winning his maiden but was an expensive purchase with a top class pedigree and has to be filed in the could be anything category; his yard has a good strike rate here. Cut And Thrust was progressing well at a modest level when last seen and may have more to offer. There should also be more in the locker of Satwa Gold who may need this to be a proper test if he's to be seen at his best whilst Cruikadyke will need to be back to his best if he's to overcome a 7lb rise for victory in a claimer. That may have given him the confidence boost he requires but there are no worries for Cool Hand Jake on that score although he'll need to progress again in this better race. Gaily Noble could find that some of these are better handicapped and they could include Audemar who remains a colt of some potential as he steps up to a trip that should suit. Fascinating fare albeit with a few ifs and buts; the market may help knock a few of them on the head but we expect Shooting Party to be to the fore.
