tracked leader, ridden over 2f out, ran on inside final furlong to lead close home
led, took keen hold, settled better after 3f, ridden and edged slightly left over 1f out then slighty right, headed close home
Disappointingly just the three runners line up for this handicap but every one of the trio has to be respected but LOVERS CAUSEWAY gave every indication that he would appreciate the step up in trip from 1m2f to 1m4f and Mark Johnston's colt is taken to complete a hat-trick and confirm Lingfield form with Exceedthewildman. Stan Moore's colt has a 2lb pull for the three-quarters of a length that separated himself and Lovers Causeway at Lingfield but Mark Johnston's colt looked better the further that they went that day, leading inside the final furlong having been headed approaching the distance, and staying on well. Andrew Balding's Danger Mulally has won each of his last two starts here and at Wolverhampton very narrowly and has not been too harshly treated by the handicapper having been raised 5lbs for his latest success. He should stay the longer trip this evening but Lovers Causeway promises to improve for the longer distance and looks the one to beat.
