    Verdict

Pass The Port has shown improved form for being stepped up in trip on the all-weather recently and is taken to make a winning return to the level, with Masterman Ready and Screenplay rated the main dangers. The selection was unraced as a juvenile but showed promise over a mile in four starts on turf last season and now that Derek Haydn Jones has discovered his best trip there may be more to come from the son of Docksider, who although 5lbs higher than when winning at Southwell last time is still 7lbs lower than when last seen on turf. Top weight Sir Sidney has been off the track for some time and is probably best watched so a bigger threat may come from Masterman Ready. Walter Swinburn's gelding ended last season in good heart and there may be more to come from the four-year-old. Screenplay was not extended to win a moderate maiden on the Polytrack at Wolverhampton last time but may do better now that he returns to turf, while Nawow is fit from the all-weather and is well treated on his best. Pass The Port has an obvious chance though and he gets the vote.
