Verdict

SIMPLE SOLUTION is the pick to land division one of the fillies maiden where Fen Spirit looks the obvious danger. With promising Newmarket maiden form being brought here by both Simple Solution and Fen Spirit it will take a smart sort to beat these. Simple Solution, an American bred filly, caught the eye when staying on late in the day to finish on the heals of the leaders on debut. She was green in the early stages of that contest and the step up to a mile should suit. Fen Spirit showed enough on debut to suggest she should have little difficulty picking up a maiden. The form of her maiden has been franked with the winner landing the Stonehenge Stakes at Salisbury on Friday while the fifth from her debut, Purple Sage (stable companion of Simple Solution) was strongly fancied to break her maiden tag back at HQ subsequently. While not justifying strong support, she ran well and did nothing to harm the claims of Fen Spirit. Save The Day has shown some promise in three maiden outings but breeding suggests she is likely to be more effective over further and that belief is vindicated on analyzing her two runs to-date. Sri Kandi, is a well-related filly who was well-backed to win on debut and obviously did not produce what was expected. She has four lengths to find with Simple Solution which is not much given the improvement that could and should come given she attracted so much support on debut. Guilin, stable companion of Sri Kandi, is another that contested the previously mentioned Newmarket maiden. An expensive purchase, she can be expected to benefit for her initial racecourse experience. An intriguing newcomer is Sussex Dancer, who is a half-sister to this years Irish Oaks second Ice Queen. The market should be watched where she is concerned but Simple Solution gets the vote.
