A watch the market race if ever there was one with BERRIEDALE the pick in the absence of it though Monsieur Jourdain and Avitus are respected. Ann Duffield can target her string with particular success and in the context of this race, her Sedgefield victory reads particularly well. Monsieur Jourdain is one of a battalion of entries from the Tim Easterby stable. He ran with a degree of credit last time out and had Blackstone Vegas behind when they met at Perth. Avitus was a modest middle distance performer on the level though he should at least stay this trip on that evidence. Strevelyan was a very lucky second behind his stable companion at Sedgefield so a note of caution is advised. Brian Ellison has had a couple of recent hurdling winners so take not of K'Gari in the ring. New Tricks often wore headgear on the flat but this has been dispensed with on a first run for Peter Monteith. This race will not be knocking the Arc off the newspapers but Berriedale has most claims on the evidence of the racecourse thus far.
