Verdict
Dad's Elect would be an apt winner on Fathers Day, but preference is for Possextown ahead of Bushido, and Wet Lips. Ex-Irish pointer Possextown was put straight over fences by Nicky Richards last November, and revealed that he was a bit too keen at both Ayr and Newcastle. After being put away for the winter, the son of Lord Americo returned to action here at the end of May, and was unlucky not to collect. Having jumped well in the lead throughout, a mistake at the second last stopped him in his tracks, and he was overhauled by Stan. He will have learnt from that, and as he will strip fitter as well, can make amends. Bushido was also unlucky when coming to grief three out at Southwell, as he too was putting his rivals to the sword at the time, and it will be interesting if he and the selection take each other on. Any mistakes by either could let in Wet Lips who will go on the ground, and who has enough placed form in fair company to take a hand. Prize Ring looks a bit one-paced, but the form of Dad's Elect's second to Chivite at Hereford was given a further boost by the latter at Newton Abbot on Tuesday, so he can make his presence felt for a while. Possextown has the potential to develop into a nice staying chaser in time though, and is the pick.
