Verdict

With three of the runners having won on their last outing and Rose Tina also looking as though she may have won, had she stood up, this looks quite a hot little contest. Flash Gordon, Pounsley Mill, and the evergreen Governor Daniel all come into this in good form and it would be no surprise to see any one of these enter the winners enclosure, but Rose Tina looked to have the race at her mercy when coming to grief at Huntingdon, a view also taken by the Handicapper as he has seen fit to put her up 6lbs, and she is given a chance to make amends. Brendan Powell's six-year-old has several decent efforts to her name over fences, without quite hitting the target and will be well suited to the likely strong pace set by Flash Gordon. The latter, although nine now, is lightly raced over fences, but has won 60% of his completed races over the larger obstacles. He will be a tough nut to crack, despite him running off a mark 8lbs higher than when successful at Bangor. Governor Daniel has been a wonderful servant to connections, winning 15 races in all, five of them over fences including one off a higher mark than what he has to race off today. He will be a danger to all. Pounsley Mill has won two of his four races over fences, but he lacks the experience of his rivals and in what is likely to be a soundly run contest, that may count against him.
