The two four-year-olds to have won over timber namely Grand Prompt and Jollyolly achieved little in victory and have plenty on under their penalties, while Scotish Law, although placed in three of his four outings over timber, doesn't look good enough to win a novice and it may pay to concentrate on The Masareti Kid and Aifung, both dual-bumper winners, with the latter getting the vote. Bob Buckler's mare will be more at home on this faster surface having been found out on rain softened ground at Bangor, where she stopped to nothing having gone to the front travelling well enough turning for home. A wide margin winner on fast ground at Newton Abbot back in April, she is well worth another chance on her favoured surface. The main threat should come from The Masareti Kid, who was an expensive failure on his hurdling debut at Kelso last October, having not jumped that well. The winner of both of his bumpers at the stiff Hexham track, this trip will hold no fears for the locally trained runner. Grand Prompt doesn't look one to trust, so third spot may go to Jollyolly, who has yet to finish out of the frame over timber and will be much happier back in ordinary company, having been outclassed by Mirant last time.
