A disappointing turnout for this race and it presents Candello with a chance to add to her Ludlow debut win, with Little Venus looking to be the obvious danger. The selection made a highly-pleasing debut when scoring in Shropshire nearly a year ago and normal improvement alone should see her set the standard here. The obvious caveats are that she has not had a recent race and her ability to handle testing going has to be taken on trust. Little Venus is given as the danger because this unraced Henry Daly-trained five-year-old is likeably bred for this game and there appears to be lack of strength in depth among the line-up. Best of the rest might prove to be Smart Thinker, who is by Solver Patriarch out of a mare that won in the pointing fields, but Candello holds obvious claims and has to be the choice.
