Verdict

SUNNANDAEG looks an interesting contender and is preferred here to Fibs And Flannel and William Morgan in a competitive handicap. One of the horses that Noel Wilson has inherited from his new base in Lanarkshire, the selection certainly shaped with plenty of potential last season. He won at Ayr before aquitting himself well in two good races and despite a mark of 85 looking high enough, the feeling is that a return to quick ground in Scotland should see him run well. Avonrose has the benefit of a recent Beverley spin where she shaped as if ready for this longer trip, Pycian won on his debut as a juvenile so is afforded respect on this first run of the year, whilst William Morgan was a bit fresh when fancied on his reppearance but with his mark looking feasible and that run likely to have done him the world of good he is expected to run well. Dolphin Rock was very well supported ahead of his reappearance run at Thirsk when he obliged in a thrilling finish; the first two were miles clear and to be honest a 7lb rise in the weights looks lenient. Fibs And Flannel also impressed with the manner of his victory earlier in the month at Beverley and this Tobougg gelding looks likely to make hay over this mile trip this year despite a 6lb higher mark. Nothing too rock solid here but the vote goes to Sunnandaeg.
