The going is good to firm at the time of writing which will be fine for DANGEROUS MIDGE but if the forecast rain arrives it would help the chances of Ouster whilst Classic Vintage seems relatively versatile with regard to underfoot conditions. Dangerous Midge has an 11lb rise in the weights to contend with over this longer trip but the way that he's seen out his races suggests that the extra quarter of a mile won't be a problem. He's always been well regarded, is now progressing well and could be up to this task although cut in the ground would be an unknown. Ouster has more to prove than most but he's of definite interest on his sole run of last season and it may be worth forgiving him a modest reappearance if the price is right. Stronger credentials are put forwards by Classic Vintage who finished a long way in front of David Elsworth's runner at Pontefract and this strong stayer will appreciate this stiffer test. Class Is Class was often well backed last season and is of obvious interest whilst Hillview Boy progressed throughout last season and may have more to offer. Mark Johnston saddles two with claims in an open opener where we'll take a chance with Dangerous Midge with a proviso about the ground.
