In depth

Verdict

This is a tricky maiden but DRUM MAJOR has plenty to recommend him and he is nominated over Sphere and Hammer. The selection has had a few chances now but he did run a sound race last time when he chased home Lough Diver. That was his best run for his current trainer and he looks worth sticking with. Sphere has shown some pretty consistent form but she has also shaped as though she would be seen to better effect over a longer trip and she is not one to place maximum faith in as she was a beaten favourite last time. Hammer showed improved form to chase home Mango Lady at Newmarket last time and this further step-up in trip should suit so she is not discounted lightly. Eureka Moment is another who should benefit from this longer trip and she can go well at a price. However, Drum Major could be worth another chance and this colt is put forward as our choice.
