Verdict

A wide-open renewal but it should be noted that Mark Johnston has trained the winner in four of the last 11 years. He has three runners this year including the in-form Sir Ron Priestley, whose only defeat this year came in the King George V Stakes at Royal Ascot - he beat stablemate Mind The Crack over 1m6f at Haydock subsequently. Eminence and PERSIAN MOON finished third and fourth in that Ascot race and the latter might be the pick of the weights today having finished second in a Listed contest at Hamilton next time. Durston looks a threat to all off joint bottom weight having won his last two at Doncaster and Chester and Le Don De Vie and Dubai Tradition also arrive on a hat-tricks. Ulster Derby third Future Investment should also go well along with Tribal Craft and Desert Icon while Kosciuszko makes his handicap debut under Frankie.
