FINJAAN is taken to get the better of Flashmans Papers and Spin Cycle. The Royal Applause colt was very impressive on debut when wearing his owner's second colours but getting the better of the more experienced first string. Ouqba has gone on to prove that he is a fair sort with victory in a Newmarket novice stakes whilst the selection took second behind Icesolator in a Listed race at Sandown. He didn't really settle that day and may not have been entirely home on the soft ground but can show his true colours this afternoon. John Best came within a whisker of taking this prize last year and has another strong contender in Flashmans Papers, but he has been held up last twice and that tactic could be fraught with danger with 15 runners due to go to post here. He was finishing fastest of all in the Norfolk Stakes but was still a length and a half adrift of South Central and Spin Cycle at the line. Spin Cycle reopposes here and has to be feared but he too was held up at Ascot and he could find all manner of traffic problems from stall two if ridden in the same manner here. Not a race to be dogmatic about with so many open to improvement but Finjaan should be capable of giving us a big run for our money.
