CARAVEL is ideally drawn to employ his frontrunning tactics and can make the most of the weight that he receives from Mr Aviator and Illustrious Blue. Sir Mark Prescott's runner won his last six starts in 2007 climbing 26lbs in the process but gave every impression on his seasonal return that there was still more to come. He has shown some reluctance to enter the stalls on occasion but that has yet to prevent him from getting away on terms and he usually races up with the pace. He should come on for his Sandown reappearance where he finished a satisfactory third and go close with Seb Sanders back on board. Top weights have won the last two renewals of this race and Mr Aviator appears to have sound claims despite his burden. He showed good pace to win over a mile at Royal Ascot and a 5lb rise for that performance is more than fair. He finished a fine second to Pipedreamer over course and distance last year and is an improved performer this season. Obviously a host of runners have claims but the third horse that we like the look of here is Illustrious Blue. He has a little to prove now having failed to recapture his best form this season but he has won five of his eight starts here and has eased a little in the weights. His yard has been in good form this month and it would be no surprise to see him run a big race at a big price. However, we're going to take Caravel to provide Sir Mark Prescott with his second winner of this race in five years.
