The veteran Pastoral Player won this last year and scored again on the track last month. He ran well on unsuitable soft ground at Doncaster last time and should get into the action again. Jack's Revenge was behind him on Town Moor and looks held but the lightly-raced and progressive AFJAAN (NAP) will take some beating. William Haggas' charge was having his first start since November when just failing to concede 12lb to Red Box at Lingfield and the winner followed up in an Ascot Listed contest on Friday. He would have been allotted a higher rating with that result in mind and looks very well in here. Rex Imperator looked ready to win again soon with a good run at Doncaster and his trainer also has a chance with Fort Bastion, who has been performing with credit in higher-class handicaps.
