THE LAST LION came up against Prince Of Lir at Beverley then in the Norfolk Stakes and wasn't quite good enough on either occasion. The winner wasn't at his best in France on Sunday but Mark Johnston's colt has since landed a Listed contest at Sandown in very good style and looks the one to be on. Global Applause wasn't far behind in the Norfolk Stakes though there doesn't look any reason for a form reversal but Rapacity Alexander landed a Listed contest at Chantilly before failing to handle much softer ground at Deauville. Sportsmanship has made steady progress though all of his runs have been over an extra furlong and the form of Nayyar's victory at Chepstow has been let down.
