The enigmatic Kalaman is giving another chance in this small field, with Imtiyaz and Vanderlin the likely dangers. Sir Michael Stoute's colt put up his best performance when second in last season's St James's Palace Stakes. He has since been a beaten favourite in three subsequent outings. His most recent effort was behind Gateman at Newmarket, form that should be good enough against these rivals. Imtiyaz is the Godolphin representative who comes into the reckoning here on his course victory back in September. However he does have to concede weight to the selection which may prove too much to ask. Vanderlin tries a mile for the first time after running with promise on the all-weather at Lingfield last time. Grand Passion and Kings Point make up the field, but both appear to be out of their depth, so Kalaman is the class horse and should easily take care of these.
