In depth

Verdict

A high draw has usually been a big advantage here despite all the ground staff's efforts to negate the bias - therefore a chance is taken that Pulse can make the most of his pull at the weights with the penalised Guns Blazing and continue his trainer's resurgent spell of good form. The in-form Maromito and Aintnecessarilyso are others that have fared well with the draw and should be capable of figuring strongly as things unfold. While it will also be dangerous to rule out Double M, who has one of the better jockeys booked and is a prime candidate to scrimmage for the early lead. However, as this course has a habit of throwing up a trouble strewn passage for those that are not able to quicken inside the final furlong, the seven-year-old may find himself being taken on from all sides as they bear down on the line. Therefore a chance is taken with Pulse as he has been in very good heart of late and he can take advantage of his good draw if Amir Quinn can ensure he stays out of trouble on a track that will otherwise suit his style of running.
