Cold Turkey looked a shade unlucky when just failing to catch Swift Tango at Newbury last week, and is bound to have his supporters, but the four-year-old is not guaranteed to stay this longer trip and a chance is taken with Romany Prince, who is preferred to Gold Ring. The last mentioned has been running consistently well in 1m4f handicaps this term and deserves to win a race of this nature but may also not be suited by the step up in trip. The William Haggas-trained Escayola showed progressive form last term over staying distances but starts the new campaign off a 6lb higher mark than when scoring at Musselburgh when last seen and will have to be fully tuned up to carry on where he left off. John Dunlop's Cara Fantasy has been disappointing so far this term but has to be respected given her trainer's record with similar types. The consistent King Flyer and James Fanshawe's Reveillez, who should improve for his recent reappearance, are others to consider but the vote goes to Romany Prince. The son of Robellino has not been seen since finishing down the field in the Cesarewitch but has run well fresh in the past. David Elsworth's gelding has no problems with the trip or ground, is fairly treated and, with the stable's horses coming back into form, he looks worth a bet in a race where there are doubts concerning many of the market leaders.
