The impressive Doncaster winner Dr Thong has been given a fair mark by the handicapper and is selected to beat Wistman and Jedburgh. It is difficult to assess the strength of the opposition in that maiden but there was plenty to like about the way Dr Thong went about his work and he was value for more than the official winning margin. Wistman landed his maiden in fine style at Folkestone before running a gallant third behind Imperialistic at Beverley, another bold showing as expected. Jedburgh has earned his top-weight following three comfortable juvenile victories. He returned to the track with a promising third in a hot handicap at Newmarket earlier this month and should go close under Mick Kinane. In a very competitive field King Carnival must also be given chances, but pick of the weights is Dr Thong and he gets our vote.
