Strategic Mover is the pick ahead of Bouguereau and Emmrooz, while Green Wadi should be noted with an eye to the future. On the basis of two decent efforts so far, Strategic Mover should be nailed on to open his account sooner rather than later. Paul Cole's colt was asked to tackle Listed company on just his second racecourse appearance at Salisbury, and considering that he was the only one of the seven-strong field not to have won previously, came out with a good deal of credit in finishing just three-lengths off the useful McCartney. That form entitles the son of Grand Slam to the utmost respect here, and he is fancied to open his account at the third time of asking. Bouguereau also took on Listed opponents on only his second outing when sent to Deauville in August. He too ran well in defeat, but might just find the ground too fast here. Emmrooz has a host of big-race entries, culminating in next year's Vodafone Derby, and he began the long road to success by finding just Ridge Dance too good at Sandown. He looked a shade green then, and will know more now, so he too has to be on the short-list, more so than the remainder, although Racing Post Trophy entry Green Wadi is sure to have been put through his paces on the Lambourn gallops. A decent little maiden can go to Strategic Mover.
