Verdict

Tanweer can make it two out of two in this Listed contest, with Sporting Art, Dubai Power and Eastern Gift all worth a place in the line-up. Tanweer cost $320,000 as a yearling, and duly made a winning debut at Newmarket last month in the same race that King's Best took before going on to greater glory a few years ago. Entered for the Dewhurst, Racing Post Trophy and next year's Vodafone Derby, Sir Michael Stoute's charge is the one with the most scope here, and can beat his more experienced rivals. Sporting Art lost his unbeaten record in the Group 3 Sirenia Stakes, but stayed on well on the wide outside, and is worth a try over this longer trip on breeding, so rates a danger. Dubai Power lines up as the only maiden here, but she ran well in the Dick Poole at Salisbury and is another with more to offer over a trip, while Eastern Gift has more to do than when landing a Chester maiden, but Richard Hannon captured this race four years ago with Fantastic View, so he cannot be totally discounted along with the battle-hardened Meeriss. Tanweer has a lot more to offer though, and can pay to follow.
