No surprise that there are plenty in with a chance and it is with some trepidation that we give the vote to KING'S APOSTLE ahead of Borderlescott and Beaver Patrol. William Haggas is having a season to remember and his progressive son of King's Best comes here on the back of a midfield finish at Ascot. That was his first run at seven furlongs for a while and now back over a more suitable six he can go well assuming that there isn't lots of rain. Scientists of the draw may debate for days about where to be but at the end of the day there is unlikely to be a huge bias and a good horse will win from anywhere. Dandy Nicholls knows how to prime his sprinters so his runners need respect, with Buachaill Dona looking the best of the bunch on the face of it. Edge Closer has talent but top-weight makes life tough, whilst Hoh Hoh Hoh and Beaver Patrol have claims and could easily go well at big prices. 2006 winner Borderlescott is drawn right next to the rail and he must be considered a major player. However he keeps finding one too good and whilst his attitude is fine, his prominent style of racing leaves him vulnerable late on. Knot In Wood won by the narrowest of margins last time at Hamilton and looks primed for this assignment, Ashdown Express and Patavellian are old-timer's who know how to win but are struggling of late, whilst Hinton Admiral is capable of better than recent efforts might suggest.
