Verdict

ELECTIONEER is given the vote on his return to action although he does have something to prove now; if he fails to come up trumps then the likes of Autocracy, Fear Nothing and Kingsgate Choice all enter calculations. Mark Johnston has a decent strike rate at this venue and Electioneer is unlikely to lack for fitness on his seasonal reappearance. He stepped up on the form of his debut to win impressively at Beverley before being made favourite to win a warm nursery at Newmarket that went to Mister Hughie. He was beaten a long way out that day but the winner has gone on to better things and it may be worth giving Electioneer the benefit of the doubt. It's not as though the opposition is bombproof as Kingsgate Choice bombed out on his return and needs to learn to settle whilst Fear Nothing is now tried in a visor despite running a respectable race in a competitive heat at York. Autocracy may not have been suited by the ground when a beaten favourite at Windsor when racing too keenly and has to be feared but Yurituni is another that needs to be forgiven a poor run.
