Young Finnegan landed a bumper and a maiden hurdle at this time a year ago but hasn't done as well as expected over fences having been beaten at long odds-on in a three-runner race at Gowran last time. He didn't appreciate the very heavy ground that day so any further rain wouldn't help. Pink Coat, the winner of a very tough handicap over hurdles here in 2013 before a long break, made a very promising debut over fences at Limerick in June but has failed to make the expected progress and may need quicker ground. Vercingetorix mainly performed at a high level over hurdles and was expected to make a successful debut over the bigger obstacles at Wexford but a couple of late mistakes put him out of contention. He should do better but a chance is taken on PISTOL PARK, who had very useful form over hurdles in France and will be better for a pipe-opener over timber at Naas last month.
