A tricky start to proceedings as a few of these have had their chances. Berkshire Downs falls into that category, as do The Jazz Singer and Buttercup. But Petapenko was making his hurdling debut when third at Kelso in October and has probably been waiting for better ground. Ballinvegga showed a bit more when upped in trip at Carlisle last month and could also figure but Nigel Twiston-Davies won this in 2011 and 2012 and will have high hopes that WICKED WILLY can follow suit. He was easy to back on his hurdling debut under today's amateur at Warwick but only found one too good and finished 12 lengths clear of the well-supported third with Buttercup only fourth.
