Raimond Ridge may find this coming too soon after his narrow defeat at Bath on Friday evening and Mick Channon's gelding looks best left out of calculations in a race taken to go to MERRY DIVA, who gets the vote with Cawdor rated the best of the rest. The selection disappointed at Pontefract at the beginning of the month on her latest start but Chris Wall's filly looks worth another chance judged by earlier form at the same venue and at Doncaster. Lucy Brown was good value for her win at Salisbury last time but a 6lb rise and the step up to six furlongs from the minimum may prevent her from following up. Mark Johnston's Ultimate Respect has been fairly well held in maidens but may do better now running in a handicap so he cannot be discounted but looks high enough in the weights. Cawdor ran no sort of race at Newmarket last time in June but earlier form was solid and it is no surprise that Henry Candy has given her a break since that latest start. She has solid claims but preference is for Merry Diva, who can make up for her disappointing effort at Pontefract on her latest start.
