Velvet Waters has been knocking at the door of late and can pay to support ahead of Dancing Lyra, Mexican Pete and Anuvasteel. Velvet Waters looks on a fair mark here after her last three runs that have yielded a place on each occasion. The Fulke Johnson-Houghton-trained four-year-old started the season off what appeared to be a stiff mark based on last year's efforts, but she has shown enough to suggest that there is a handicap win waiting around the corner. Whether it is Tattenham Corner remains to be seen, but the daughter of Unfuwain will bounce off the fast ground, and has a good chance in receipt of weight from most of her rivals in this class 4 contest. In contrast, in a class 5 at Yarmouth last time, she was giving well over a stone to the winner, but was not beaten too far at the finish, and so from that point of view she makes some appeal. Dancing Lyra made good headway to finish a close third at Salisbury, and with a similar effort should also be in the shake-up, while Mexican Pete is improving slowly and will be well-placed by his shrewd trainer who does well with his small string. Anuvasteel has the help of Frankie Dettori and will like the ground so is also worth a mention, but Velvet Waters deserves to get her head back in front and has a good opportunity to do so here.
