Rathor shaped well on his latest start at Ripon and is expected to go close, with Grand Course his main rival ahead of First Show who hails from an in-form stable. Henry Cecil has had plenty of big-race winners at Epsom over the years, but Warren Place is much quieter these days. However, one or two of his inmates have shown promise this season, and despite being fitted with a visor for both of his career outings so far, Rathor has shown enough to warrant support. The son of Machiavellian was not beaten far in softish ground on his Leicester bow in April, and then showed that he can go on a faster surface when also second at Ripon more recently. Although no world-beater, he now has enough experience to open his account, and is taken to see off Grand Course who is likely to set the pace as he did at Beverley. The longer trip will be in his favour as well, but he is expected to succumb to the challenge of the selection. First Show has not revealed his hand yet in two outings, but his stable is in form, and any support in the ring for March Heir could be significant. For the winner we return to Rathor.
