After an encouraging debut at York's Dante meeting in May, Mick Channon's New Wish ran too badly to be true at Ayr in softish ground. The son of Ali-Royal may be better suited by the faster conditions here. However, Channon's colt faces stiff opposition from the Barry Hills-trained Donegal Dancer, who showed marked improvement over course and distance last time and with the stable in much better form now he looks the one they all have to beat. Unicorn Reward was disappointing on his debut, considering the way the stable's two-year-olds have been going this season, and is probably better than he showed there.
