      Verdict

      ARCANO looks the proverbial 'shoe-in' here and is preferred to Bonnie Charlie and Capercaillie. With an official rating of 118 Brian Meehan's colt has at least 10lbs in hand on his rivals. His one start this year was a seven length third to subsequent Group One winners Dick Turpin and Canford Cliffs. On the face of it that was disappointing at the time but his stable were out of form and on reflection it was a solid first start of the year. The drop back to six furlongs will suit this sprinter and he really should win. Bonnie Charlie is a course and distance winner but he was well-held in handicap company at Hamilton last time and he needs to repeat his Equiano run in May to feature here, Lui Rei has lots of weight to carry and is opposable on his first UK start, whilst Vitoria progressed well last year and is respected, if not necessarily feared, on this first start of the year. Capercaillie is another filly who has her first start of 2010 and she is well-thought-of, shown by her runs in Group company last year. With improvement to come as a three-year-old she may prove to be the main danger, but this can signal a return to form for the classy Arcano.
