In depth

Verdict

A fascinating affair with Wild Fling looking the one to beat. He managed an honourable fourth at Newmarket having started slowly and endured a tough passage throughout. He still races off 86 tonight and should gain compensation. Voucher was sent off at a gigantic price to win her Pontefract maiden and was never posed any serious questions throughout. It will be somewhat tougher tonight but the Hills' horses are in good form and if she has gained confidence from that victory, she should go close. Saladim is potentially the one most open to improvement. He had to wait until the third time of asking to take his maiden but the penny looks to have dropped and we may not have seen the best of him as yet. The well-bred King's Thought is likely to have plenty of supporters with Frankie Dettori in the plate but Ed Dunlop's form has been scarcely anything to write home about.
