Not one for the fainthearted and LA BRIGITTE can take this contest at the expense of Happy Anniversary and Tropical Paradise. The old adage of topweights in a nursery is something of an old horse chestnut but Alan McCabe's filly is in fine form at the moment and Neil Brown's three-pound claim could become invaluable come the finish. Happy Anniversary should have no concerns in relation to the going. Locally trained by Vicky Haigh and well drawn, her unfashionable connections should allow her to be sent off a couple of points bigger than the formbook suggests. Tropical Paradise beat fillies that had Group 1 entries when successful at Windsor. She has to be a player at this level. Richard Hannon is surprisingly underrepresented at this level so it will be interesting to see if River Rye has any fans. Maggie Lou was outclassed in the Lowther Stakes and this should represent a more realistic assignment. Anne Duffield's yard have had a year of woe this term so Sunset Crest can be forgiven for a few near misses and if in first class order, she has distinct place claims. Golden Rosie is the only course-and-distance winner in the field. La Brigitte can make her class count.
