A good race likely to be staged at a healthy pace and we take BOLLIN FELIX to oblige at the principal expense of Bogside Theatre and Tropical Strait. Tim Easterby's horses are invariably primed for the big Yorkshire festivals and Bollin Felix looks typical of the type. A winner at Thirsk in bottomless going, the handicapper would have stuck him up far more than a 6lb penalty allows. Bogside Theatre has been a credit to George Moore. Effective on any surface, she is sure to be in the firing line throughout. Tropical Strait is yet to experience conditions as testing as these. He ran with credit in the Newburgh Handicap but continues to go up in the handicap for his consistency. Mark Johnston's team are in flying form so don't discount Record Breaker from bouncing back to form. Dzesmin won readily over 1m4f at Chester although hasn't ran particularly well at this track in the past. La Vecchia Scuola has been a real revelation for connections but may just find conditions a little too tough. The Betchworth Kid is in receipt of plenty of weight all around. The Last Drop finished second in the St Leger at York all those years ago and is now contesting races off today's depressingly low mark. Ripon winner, Laterly, is still progressing and rates as best of the others. Bollin Felix has plenty in his favour and gets our vote.
