As competitive as one would expect for this historic end of season contest and this year it can go to BAILA ME, while Tastahill and Kings Destiny are leading players. The selection is a Godolphin runner with Group 1 winning experience in Germany, plenty of soft ground form to his name, and comes into this off the back of an easy Listed win at Lingfield over a similar trip. He shows good stamina and a turn of foot even when it is muddy, and he will do for us. Tastahill is a fellow soft ground loving Listed winner, and Barry Hills has laid him out for this, giving him a good break before one run back in a Group 2 last time. He will come on again for that and should be bang there. Kings Destiny loves this soft ground and won over the trip at Ripon in July. He does not have the class of the first two we looked at, but this is a handicap and he is treated accordingly. He can go well. Charm School is 7lbs higher than his last win but acts well with cut, while Hevelius has enough ability to get involved, but he is unproven on soft ground and so looks risky enough. Broomielaw has both ground and handicapper against him, but Stormy Weather relishes the mud and despite not having as strong a profile as some he is open to improvement and it would be no surprise to see him show up well. Safari Sunup finds it hard to win but on this ground is capable of being very competitive, while towards the foot of the racecard Trip The Light has little weight to carry and will see out every yard of this, although there are going concerns. A fascinating renewal, where Baila Me gets the vote.
