Verdict

Grylls gets the tentative vote here ahead of Captain Gerard. Richard Hannon's large string are in good form at present and from the plum draw of stall one, Grylls can win again. Building on his debut run at Newbury, the selection appreciated the drop to this trip next time up at Sandown. He goes on the ground and can win again. Captain Gerrard's debut run at York has been franked and he has run well in defeat twice since. He doesn't have the best of the draw but can still be very competitive although the feeling is that it may be place money again despite his trainer's good form. Kersaint drops back in trip and this race is easier than the Woodcote he contested last time out so he goes on the shortlist with a good draw, along with Fitolini who would be a threat if as effective on the turf as the all-weather. Little Pete was well held at Ascot recently but definitely has ability so cannot be ruled out, however in a cracking little contest, we will return to Grylls as the selection.
