In depth

Verdict

Talcen Gwyn has been in great form of late and is fancied to gain some compensation for a series of near misses; possibly at the main expense of Sir Loin and King Egbert. The last named has also been in good heart in recent times and, having handled the course well the last time he raced here, a bold bid is anticipated. Watch the market where he is concerned. Sir Loin is another that has to be shortlisted after winning two of his last four starts. His rider's 7lb off-sets his penalty and, with the ground not expected to be a problem, Nigel Tinkler's gelding should not be underestimated; despite facing a stiff test under top weight. However, preference goes to Talcen Gwyn, who has strung together a solid run of efforts and is fancied to capitalise on any weaknesses in this company.
