Saxon Lil continues to defy the handicapper and should be backed again here against likely market principals, Summer Recluse and Zafarshah. Drawn sixteen, she is ideally located tonight to make full use of the rail position, and had her jockey not dropped the whip, there is every reason to suspect that she might have won by further than she did at Beverley four days ago. Fast ground appears to have been the key to her improvement and Hitchcott keeps the ride. Zafarshah has to be respected as a course-and-distance winner. He probably is the better of Ron Harris' runners although this horse is one who very much needs everything to fall into place. A comment that equally applies to Summer Recluse, who is gaining increasing notoriety as a slow starter. Cashneem is held on recent form but could be of interest if any money is seen for Mark Brisbourne's charge. A more reliable stick might be Shielaligh. She should be in with major chances of those drawn far side. More readily campaigned over six furlongs, she stayed seven on the artificial surfaces and should get it here. My Girl Pearl saves her best for this course and distance and is another respected from a low draw. Saxon Lil has shown no reason why we should start opposing her so we see no reason to do so.
