Verdict

John Joseph Murphy's BORN TO EXCEL has found just the one too good in each of his last two outings in Ireland and he looks worth backing to go one better today on his British debut, getting the vote ahead of Sunny Future and Ocean Transit. Russell Price's mare showed improved form here last time and the dual hurdle winner has every chance on that evidence of resuming winning ways on the level but she may just be a shade high in the weights. Make Amends has disappointed in two starts since winning at Newbury last month, while Jane Chapple-Hyam's Starkat could probably do with some help from the handicapper. Sunny Future has been running consistently well of late and he should be thereabouts again but a better bet looks to be Born To Excel, who can make the journey from Ireland a successful one.
