Brian Baugh's Comptonspirit won by the narrowest of margins at Carlisle last week and the six-year-old may struggle under a penalty for that success so preference is for SPIC 'N SPAN, who gets the vote with Liel rated the best of the rest. The selection deserves to get his head in front for Ron Harris having found one too good in each of his last three outings, latterly when chasing home Multahab at Brighton last week, and he can go one better today racing off the same mark. Island Legend, who ran well at Kempton on the Polytrack last time, looks the pick of Milton Bradley's two runners over Mazzola and he has to be considered. Tony Newcombe's Jolly Ranch has her first outing since January and any market support for her would be of interest, while Brian Meehan's lightly raced Liel could be dangerous off a mark of just 60 on her handicap debut with Kieren Fallon booked. The vote though goes the way of Spic 'n Span, who can gain what would be a well deserved success.
