Verdict

CENTIME did well to win last time and can make light of the 4lb rise by beating White Finch, with Shesells Seashells and Richard Hannon's pair others to consider in a tight opener. Brian Meehan's filly came from off the pace to score at Nottingham, something that proved hard on the day, and beat a pair of unexposed sorts in the process. The second horse has since let down the form with a moderate run on Friday but the third was very well backed and our feeling is Centime did very well to win and can do so again. Her final maiden run was a good one, when narrowly denied by a 90-rated sort, and the handicapper may have been lenient in his initial assessment. White Finch is closely matched at these weights with our selection on a line through Saggiatore, second behind Centime at Nottingham and just ahead of Andrew Balding's filly in what looked a strong Sandown maiden. The winner of that contest went on to run in the Oaks, whilst the switch to turf seemed to suit White Finch who battled on well; she appears fairly treated. Shesells Seashells is harder to assess having left Chris Wall following a battling success at Yarmouth. She'd come on plenty for her debut and on breeding should continue to progress now upped in trip and should run well; Frankie Dettori's booking strengthens the case as he's three from nine aboard Michael Bell trained three-year-olds over the past five years. Pastello has done well this season and is still fairly treated just 3lbs above her sole winning mark but she travels well and may be better over a mile and similar comments apply to stablemate Sheila Toss who tries blinkers, although the yard is flying. Oriental Girl appears well handicapped although she's a bit of a madam and doesn't appeal as a solid betting proposition while Alice Cullen needs to improve on her handicap debut, so we'll return to the entirely more solid profile of Centime.
