Verdict

This is an interesting maiden but GIVE YOUR VERDICT should take home the spoils, possibly at the chief expense of Rule Maker although Sunset Place needs a look in the market ahead of his debut. Sir Michael Stoute's colt has a strong American pedigree and cost £115,000 as a yearling. His debut at Goodwood suggested that might prove to be money well spent as he stayed on nicely under hands and heels, which makes his subsequent odds-on disappointment at Salisbury all the more frustrating. However, the drop back to seven furlongs can't have been ideal and the race itself wasn't run at a true pace so in all likelihood he's done well to take second; the step back up in trip should see him go one better. Contrastingly, Rule Maker steps down in trip having disappointed over 1m4f last time. He is bred to be effective at this trip and if connections adopt the positive tactics that seemed to suit on debut he could be hard to pass, but we feel Jeremy Noseda's horse might set things up for our pick. Sunset Place is the half-brother of a horse placed in the Cheshire Oaks and will probably do better over further in time but he needs a glance in the market anyway whilst Startle's poor effort last time surely wasn't his form and this son of high-class miler Starcraft should leave that behind. Jubail should do better when handicapping over further, Whisper Wind has around seven lengths to find with our pick whilst Bernie's Moon didn't offer much on debut although runners from the yard tend to improve with racing. Give Your Verdict looks to have been found an ideal opportunity to get off the mark at the third attempt.
