Verdict

A poor race in which Mermaid's Cry is tentatively selected in favour of Glasson Lodge and Wizzskilad. Mermaid's Cry ran a very solid race on her debut when finishing an unlucky-in-running second to Bowland Bride at Thirsk. She has flopped since on two occasions but this is her grade and it is hoped that she will consent to put her best foot forward for new trainer, Roy Brotherton. Glasson Lodge is exposed at this level and has been expensive to follow. David Evans' team is in form so this one must be respected in such a weak heat. Wizzkislad ran better than her market odds at Nottingham suggested but her trainer is badly in form at the moment. It's difficult to enthuse about many of these and we recommend Mermaid's Cry at minimal stakes.
