In a tricky claimer, Khanjar is taken to get the better of Lanfredo and Gateland. having shown signs of ability in a Bath maiden last year, Gateland was dropped to selling grade this summer and ran well to be second but has not shown any form in better company since. Nonetheless this is as good as a seller and Gateland has been given every chance with a competitive weight here. Lanfredo showed some form earlier this year at Lingfield in maiden company but has deteriorated since, and was well beaten recently in a seller. However, on his latest start at Kempton he was staying on at the finish and over an extra two furlongs he could play a part in this weak affair, particularly receiving weight from the majority of his rivals. Yet to win on turf, Khanjar was just touched off in a class four handicap in June and has run well in claimers since. he is thoroughly exposed but his form is the most solid available. Khanjar looks well treated here and can land his first turf win.
